New charity profile highlighting achievements to mark 10th anniversary
PATCH has recently updated its charity profile to mark the 10th anniversary since it was founded.
It features a range of updates including successful projects delivered, partnerships formed and sustained, and individuals and organisations funded to further education or support patients receiving palliative care and their families. With over 50 projects and 1000 individuals supported the impacts arising from the work being undertaken by PATCH are being felt across Scotland and beyond .
With the introduction of the Dundas Medal in 2017 in partnership with The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the influence of PATCH is reaching beyond Scotland and across the UK, which is a positive step and part of a wider ambition for the charity.
PATCH was integral in the establishment of the end-of-life communications course set up in 2017 for final year medical students at the University of Dundee – a course which has now been embedded in the curriculum and has already been attended by over 800 students.
The Board running the charity is voluntary and includes those from medical, nursing and other healthcare backgrounds, as well as marketing, IT and finance to offer the most comprehensive range of skills to support its endeavours. Many of those on the Board have been part of the charity for 8 years or more.
Reflecting on the new publication, and 10 years of PATCH, Founder and Medical Director Dr Pamela Levack commented: “As we were producing this charity profile update, what really struck us was all what we have achieved across Scotland and also the wonderful support we have received. We have maintained and built on so many relationships and gained a number of ambassadors along the way. We are a small charity with big ambition, and a team so very dedicated to this work. We could not do it all without working together as a team of volunteers. We are committed to continuing our support for the amazing care and compassion which exists within the healthcare professions.”
